Identification: Production Number
Before 1963, the last number(s) of a serial number indicated the production number. To determine the age of your outboard, find the letter code and the production number. For example, SJP 12345 is between SJP 9773 and SJP 15997 which makes it a Forty Plus built between 1958-59. See below:
